First off Happy Holidays from all of us at Cafferty & Scheidegger. As the year winds down and the holiday season ramps up, we here at Cafferty & Scheidegger look back with gratitude for the past year. We have been busy! For the third year running, we have won the Best of Racine, in the Attorney/Law Office category, and it’s all thanks to our clients who put their trust in us to help them navigate difficult times in their lives. We appreciate them all more than we can say.
We hope you enjoy your holidays, but please do it safely!
Traveling away from home? Secure your home and set your alarm if you have one. Lights on timers or having a house/pet sitter will make your house appear occupied and less attractive to criminals. Ask a trusted neighbor to keep an eye on your house for you. Offer to bribe them with cookies if necessary.

When out doing last minute shopping, don’t leave your purse or wallet unattended in your cart. Make sure to put all purchased items in the trunk of your car. An empty car is less interesting to thieves, and if you can’t fit everything in your trunk, you may have spent too much money. Keep the holiday cheer alive and don’t fight over parking spots, even at the Outlet Mall.
If you’ll be traveling by car, be careful of the snow and icy patches. Sitting in a ditch waiting for a tow is no fun, especially if you have a car full of kids and presents. Also we can’t stress enough, PLEASE drive sober. Do not risk yourself or others just because you think you are fine to drive. There are so many other options….taxis, ubers, call a friend, designate a driver, the Tavern League of Wisconsin also offers free rides home if you have been drinking. https://www.tlw.org/saferide. Anything is better than driving drunk and possibly spending the holidays in jail, or the hospital.
Wishing the happiest of holiday seasons to our clients, friends and family!
