4th Of July – Don’t Go Out With A (OWI) Kaboom!

Wisconsin 4th of July in Kenosha, Racine and Walworth. Avoid an OWI

Wisconsin will be celebrating Independence Day all weekend long!

Popular choices may be:

  • BBQs, cookouts, picnics
  • Pool parties
  • Boating at the lake
  • Bars, or in many cases several bars

Suffice it to say most celebrations across Southeastern Wisconsin will include alcohol. Drunk driving is a serious problem. Holidays like the Fourth of July are big holiday weekends for drunk driving (OWI) arrests. Anyone who tests over the legal limit will be arrested. It is important to keep in mind with our neighbors to the south in Illinois having legalized marijuana. It is still illegal in Wisconsin to possess marijuana and certainly illegal to drive under its influence.

Many people lose their lives because of drinking and driving on the 4th of July. As a result, the Racine, Kenosha, and Walworth police will be out in full force to arrest anyone suspected of driving under the influence.

Additionally, Racine, Walworth, and Kenosha County law enforcement agencies will be out at the lakes and rivers during the 4th of July weekend. They will likely be checking boats for anyone operating a water vessel under the influence of alcohol and drugs.

If you are drinking during the three-day weekend, please do not drive unless you prefer to spend your money on OWI lawyers, like Cafferty & Scheidegger. Although we are here to help if you are arrested and charged with an OWI (Operating While Intoxicated, is Wisconsin for DUI for our Illinois friends), it is much easier (and cheaper) to avoid the OWI arrest by not driving a motor vehicle after consuming any alcohol.

Don’t let this Fourth of July blow up in your face. Instead of spending your night in jail, be safe by not drinking and driving!
