This Privacy Policy describes how Cafferty, Scheidegger & Johnson S.C. (the “Firm,” “we,” “us”) handles information collected through our three websites:

A single policy applies to all three (collectively, the “Sites”).

What we collect

  • Information you submit. Contact-form fields (name, phone, email, the message you choose to include) and any documents you attach.
  • Server and security data. IP address, user agent, request timestamps, and Cloudflare Turnstile signals, retained briefly for spam and abuse prevention.
  • First-party site measurement. A first-party visitor identifier, page paths, referrer, and related technical details so we can count visits, see which pages are read, and understand how someone who contacts the Firm found it. This measurement is operated for us by WattReach. It is not sold to data brokers and does not follow you across unrelated websites.
  • Advertising attribution. When Meta advertising is in use on a Site, cookies named _fbp and _fbc may be set, and Meta’s Conversions API may receive server-side events (including page views classified as human visits, phone-link taps, and form submissions). Form submissions may include a hashed version of the email or phone you provided for ad attribution.

How we use it

We use submitted information solely to respond to your inquiry, to schedule a consultation, and (if we agree to represent you) to provide legal services. We do not sell, rent, or share information for marketing lists.

Analytics and advertising

First-party measurement belongs to the Firm and WattReach. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control (GPC) or Do Not Track signal, we do not record that first-party measurement for the visit.

Meta. The Sites that run Meta advertising use Meta’s Conversions API (server-side), not a Meta browser pixel, to measure whether advertising on Facebook and Instagram led to a visit, a phone tap, or an enquiry. Hashed contact details from a form submission may be included for match quality. You can manage Meta ad preferences at https://www.facebook.com/ads/preferences.

We do not place third-party display advertising on the Sites themselves.

Service providers

The Sites are hosted on Cloudflare, protected from spam by Cloudflare Turnstile, and deliver contact-form email through Cloudflare Email Service. Form submissions and site measurement are processed on our behalf by WattReach. Each provider processes data under its own privacy commitments and only as needed to operate the Sites.

Confidentiality before engagement

Submitting a contact form does not create an attorney-client relationship and is not protected by attorney-client privilege. Privilege attaches only after we agree, in writing, to represent you. Please do not include sensitive case details in initial inquiries.

Retention

We retain inquiry records only as long as reasonably necessary to respond. If we represent you, client records are kept in accordance with the Wisconsin Supreme Court Rules governing attorney records.

Your choices

You may request that we update or delete information we hold about you by using the contact form on racinelaw.com. We respond within 30 days. Residents of jurisdictions with stricter laws (e.g., California, the EU) may have additional rights, which we honor on request. Blocking cookies in your browser does not break the Sites. A GPC or Do Not Track signal stops first-party site measurement as described above.

Children

The Sites are not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.

Changes

Material changes will be posted here with an updated effective or revision date. Continued use of any of the Sites after a change constitutes acceptance.
