As we look back on 2021, it has been another busy and productive year for our firm. We were voted Best of Racine County for the Attorney/Law Office category for the second year in a row. Our record of successful case outcomes, as well as dedication to our clients, have earned our lawyers places in the Best Lawyers in America®2012 - 2021 editions for Criminal Defense. Also in 2021, Attorney Patrick Cafferty has been recognized among his peers as Lawyer of the Year for Criminal Defense: General Practice in the State of Wisconsin. And Attorney Jillian Scheidegger was named a super lawyer rising star and national trial lawyers top 40 under 40.
In 2021, we also found out that Patrick is a natural on camera when he was tapped by TMJ4 to be their expert legal analyst for the Kyle Rittenhouse case. He did a fantastic job of explaining what was happening every day, in a way everyone could understand. Jillian was also featured on a few segments, if you want to see the news segments check them out here. Pat, Jillian, and Carl have all spent the year working hard for every one of their clients, winning dismissals, reduction of charges, and clients’ gratitude.
To our 2021 clients and friends of the firm
On behalf of our team at Cafferty & Scheidegger, we are so thankful for all our clients. You put your faith in us to assist you with often very serious legal challenges in 2021. We appreciate you more than we can possibly say.
Here’s wishing everyone Happy Holidays and a healthy and prosperous New Year!
As you celebrate the 2021 holidays, and ring in the 2022 New Year, here are some helpful tips to keep in mind:
If you know spending time with family can lead to a frustrating and stressful situation, try to limit your exposure. Watching the cat climb the Christmas tree is fun, but getting in a fistfight with your uncle over politics is no way to spread peace and love. And definitely not worth spending the holidays in Racine or Kenosha jail.
Holiday shopping can be fun, but…
Stores are full of shoppers, and shoplifters. Ladies, keep an eye on your purse. Also, pay attention to your credit card statement or any alerts you receive. It’s the time of year where people like to ‘borrow’ your credit card number for unauthorized purchases. They may have a merry Christmas, but it can be a pain for you to recoup your money.
Traveling for the 2021 holidays?
Follow some simple rules to keep your home safe. Put your lights on a timer. Make sure all doors and windows are locked. If you have an alarm, remember to set it. Have a trusted friend pick up your mail. Having someone come in to care for your pets also makes the house look more occupied. (And ideally, your dog will make plenty of noise if someone unauthorized tries to get in your home.)
Most importantly
Please remember to celebrate responsibly. If you’re throwing a party, keep the kids out of the eggnog, and don’t let your guests leave with their keys if they are intoxicated. Put them in the spare room, or pull out the sofa bed. If you’re out celebrating with friends, designate a driver or call rideshare. Ask your bartender for help if you need it, they know the drill. The Tavern League of Wisconsin also offers free rides home if you have been drinking. https://www.tlw.org/saferide Never drink and drive. Not only is it illegal, but it’s also not smart and you can hurt yourself or someone else. We can help if you get caught, but it will cost you!
